Here’s a confession every candle aisle regular already knows: most candles lie to you a little. That “24 oz luxury jar” burns for maybe two dozen hours before it’s a sad, waxy puddle with a drowned wick, and suddenly you’re back at the store wondering where your money went. Long lasting candles solve that math … Read more
Somewhere between the third “what do they even need?” and the fourth tab of gift ideas that all look the same, candle gift sets quietly become the answer nobody argues with. They work for the coworker whose name you drew in the office exchange, the sister who just bought a condo, and the friend who … Read more
There’s a particular kind of smugness that comes from lighting a candle and knowing exactly where it was poured. Not “somewhere,” not “a factory, probably overseas” — an actual address, an actual person who melted the wax and set the wick. That’s the appeal behind the surge in Canadian made candles, and it isn’t just … Read more
There’s a moment every candle shopper in Canada eventually hits: standing in the aisle (or scrolling Amazon.ca at 11 p.m.), squinting at a label that says “natural” and wondering if that means anything at all. The paraffin vs soy candles health debate centres on volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and soot: most research finds paraffin candles release more soot and a few more VOCs than soy, but for … Read more
Coconut wax is pressed from coconut meat, burns cleanly with a soft, even melt pool, and carries scent exceptionally well — but it’s pricier and less available on its own. Soy wax, made from soybean oil, is cheaper, widely stocked across Canada, and burns reliably, though its scent throw is usually milder. Most “premium” candles … Read more
Soy vs beeswax candles is one of those debates that sounds simple until you’re standing in front of a wall of jars on Amazon.ca, trying to figure out which one will actually survive a Canadian winter without tunnelling, smoking up your kitchen, or burning out after two evenings. Both are marketed as the “clean” alternative … Read more
A welcoming candle for entryway tables is a scented candle, usually housed in a jar or tin, placed near a front door to greet guests with fragrance and a soft glow the moment they step inside. It is one of the cheapest, fastest upgrades you can make to a Canadian home’s first impression — cheaper … Read more
Let me paint you a picture: it’s 2:30 PM on a grey Tuesday in February. Outside, it’s -14°C and your Edmonton home office feels about as inspiring as a CRA tax form. Your third coffee isn’t working, your Slack notifications are piling up, and you’ve reread the same paragraph six times. Sound familiar? This is … Read more
